Dr. Khaula Fatima Tariq is a Consultant Psychiatrist with advanced postgraduate training in Psychiatry. She holds an FCPS in Psychiatry from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, awarded in 2022, and an MCPS in Psychiatry, awarded in 2014 with first-class honours. She completed her MBBS from Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore, and also holds ECFMG certification, having successfully completed the United States Medical Licensing Examination pathway.
She has also held full GMC registration with a license to practice and remains actively connected with professional psychiatric bodies, including the Pakistan Psychiatric Society.
Dr. Khaula Tariq’s clinical practice covers a broad range of adult, child, adolescent, old-age, liaison and addiction psychiatry. Her work includes psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, medication management, risk assessment, family psychoeducation, multidisciplinary care planning and long-term follow-up. Her clinical background includes outpatient psychiatry, inpatient care, emergency and liaison psychiatry, ECT supervision, child and adolescent services, old-age psychiatry and substance misuse treatment.
At Pathways, her practice focuses on thoughtful, psychiatrist-led care for individuals and families dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, mood disorders, addiction, relapse risk, dual diagnosis, family concerns and complex emotional difficulties. Dr. Khaula Fatima Tariq is currently serving as Consultant Psychiatrist and Senior Registrar at the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, King Edward Medical University / Mayo Hospital, Lahore. Her association with KEMU/Mayo Hospital spans more than a decade, with extensive work across general adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, old-age psychiatry, liaison psychiatry, substance misuse and academic psychiatry.
She has worked in one of Punjab’s largest academic psychiatry departments, an 80-bed unit with dedicated adult male, adult female, child and adolescent, geriatric and addiction psychiatry beds. Her experience includes multidisciplinary patient care, inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, addiction treatment, dual diagnosis work, family meetings, psychological first aid, teaching and supervision of postgraduate trainees, house officers, medical students and psychology students.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Khaula has contributed to psychiatric teaching, research, public mental health awareness, psychological trauma response, student counselling services, addiction awareness, women’s mental health, child and adolescent mental health, and mental health advocacy in Pakistan.
